AI Competence for Migrant Organizations: Successful Workshop Held in Izmir, Turkey
From April 27 to May 3, 2025, a significant workshop was held in Izmir, Turkey, as part of the Erasmus+ project "AI-Competence in Education for Migrant Organizations". This project, with the code 2024-2-DE02-KA210-ADU-000260826, runs from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and is funded by Erasmus+. The overarching goal of the project is to strengthen migrant organizations through information about artificial intelligence (AI), improve their educational offerings, and optimize the integration of migrants using innovative AI technologies. It specifically focuses on modernizing educational work within migrant organizations by integrating AI to enhance social inclusion and digital competencies among staff and volunteers.
This workshop was one of the key activities planned for the project. It served as a platform to introduce migrant organizations to the use of AI in adult education, covering topics such as personalized learning, practical AI tools, and strategies for long-term implementation. Participants explored AI applications for migrant support and engaged in valuable discussions aimed at strengthening future collaboration.
Representatives from the project's partner organizations, including Afghanic e.V. (the project coordinator), advisa WIRTSCHAFTSAKADEMIE E.V., Afghan Tips, and Bizlinks Consulting and Marketing, participated in the Izmir workshop. The agenda for the workshop covered a wide range of relevant topics. Practical skills were also addressed, with a session on AI prompt engineering by Eng. Bashir. Mr. Negah presented on addressing adult migrants' training challenges with AI and shared a case study on specific challenges faced by adult migrants in Turkey, highlighting the role of AI literacy. A session on stress control through AI was led by Arifa Bashir. The workshop also included learning tours to city. Participants evaluated the workshop and planned for future project activities.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with AI skills and foster networking among migrant organizations, enabling them to share resources and strategies. This transnational cooperation leverages diverse expertise and innovative AI applications to strengthen the project's impact. By increasing competence in AI and optimizing educational offerings, the project intends for its results to be widely disseminated and used in the long term.
Ultimately, this workshop in Izmir contributes to the project's mission to use AI to enhance education, foster inclusion, build digital capacity within migrant organizations, and support better integration and equal opportunities for migrants. The project plans for further multiplier events to disseminate its results.
